What’s in My Bag 2022: Essential Gear for a Professional Photographer

Published On: 7 October 2022By Categories: Professional Photography

As a professional photographer specialising in corporate and commercial photography, I’ve developed a keen eye for selecting the right equipment that best meets my needs. In today’s blog post, I’m sharing the contents of my camera bag for a typical corporate photography shoot, explaining why each piece of gear is crucial for my work. I use the ThinkTank Airport International V3, which is not only durable and protective but also meets international carry-on size requirements, ensuring that my equipment stays safe and secure during my travels.

Nikon Z9
The Nikon Z9 is my go-to camera for various projects. With its incredible image quality, exceptional autofocus system, and rapid continuous shooting, it ensures that I can capture every moment with precision and clarity.

Nikon Z7
The Nikon Z7 is my trusty backup camera. It offers excellent image quality and performance, ensuring that I’m always prepared in case something goes wrong with my primary camera. It’s essential to have a reliable backup on hand to prevent disruptions during a shoot.

NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S
The NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S is a versatile telephoto zoom lens that’s perfect for capturing subjects from a distance. Its fast aperture enables me to shoot in low-light conditions while still maintaining sharp, high-quality images.

NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S
The NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S is a standard zoom lens that’s ideal for a wide range of photography situations. Its fast aperture and exceptional image quality make it perfect for shooting landscapes, portraits, and events.

NIKKOR Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S
When I need to capture expansive scenes, the NIKKOR Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S is my go-to wide-angle zoom lens. Its fast aperture and outstanding sharpness make it perfect for shooting interiors, architecture, and landscapes.

NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.8 S
The NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.8 S is a fantastic portrait lens, providing beautiful bokeh and excellent subject isolation. Its fast aperture makes it perfect for shooting in low light conditions and creates stunning results for portraiture and headshots.

NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.8 S
The NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.8 S is a versatile prime lens that excels in various situations, from street photography to portraits. Its fast aperture enables me to achieve excellent low-light performance and beautiful background blur.

NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.8 S
Another versatile prime lens, the NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.8 S, is excellent for capturing everyday scenes, environmental portraits, and street photography. Its fast aperture and sharp image quality make it an invaluable addition to my camera bag.

2 x Profoto B10s
The Profoto B10s are compact, powerful strobes that I rely on to provide high-quality, professional lighting for my shoots. Their portability and versatility make them an essential part of my gear, when I’m shooting on location.

Profoto Air Remote
The Profoto Air Remote is an indispensable tool for controlling my Profoto B10s wirelessly. It allows me to adjust the power, modelling light, and other settings without having to move back and forth between the lights and my camera. This remote streamlines my workflow and ensures that I can focus on capturing the perfect shot without distractions.

In conclusion, each piece of equipment in my ThinkTank Airport International V3 camera bag serves a specific purpose and contributes to the overall success of my photography assignments. From versatile lenses that allow me to adapt to various shooting situations to reliable lighting solutions and essential backup gear, these tools ensure that I am well-prepared for any project that comes my way.

As a professional photographer, it’s crucial to invest in high-quality gear that meets your needs and enables you to deliver outstanding results to your clients. I hope that this insight into the contents of my camera bag has provided you with some inspiration and ideas for your own photography equipment.

Remember, while gear is important, it’s ultimately your skill and creativity that set you apart as a photographer. Keep honing your craft, exploring new techniques, and challenging yourself, and you’ll find success in this exciting and ever-evolving field.
