What’s in my bag

Gavin Jowitt's location kit

As you can imagine, I have fine tuned my location kit over a number of years. This comprises of three bags and is the minimum I take on location for a corporate photography shoot. They key is to be able move all bags single handedly if need be. The only time this changes is when I’m flying, as the ThinkTank Airport Security is too big for carry-on. When flying, I’m more selective with lenses and split them and the bodies between a ThinkTank shoulder bag and back pack. I also aways carry a smaller bag in case I need to walk some distance or climb. Obviously, if I’m off to do a corporate portrait then I’m far more selective with what I take.

Have you had a problem with the Airport Security v2.0 on domestic flights? I just purchased one based on pictures sent by ThinkTank of one in a United bag sizer. If there is a problem I sure don’t want to get to the plane door and be told my 500mm F4 and Canon Mk III, etc. will need to be gate checked. I’d cancel my trip in a heart beat. Can you imagine what would be left of my gear at destination?
