Industrial photography in NSW mine

I’ve been playing with Tonka toys today in mid-west NSW.

With these big Caterpillar trucks the quality of the driver is judged by how many KMs they can get out of a set of tyres. Not surprising as each tire costs more than a luxury German car. At this mine there was a big chart on the wall of the crib room showing who had the record for the maximum wear out of the tyres. Interestingly the top spots were taken by female drivers… apparently they’re not so aggressive on the gear changes.
